Hello! I am really excited to be back at Mint Hill Middle School! This will be my fifth year at MHMS and I am looking forward to another great and successful year.
I am from Abingdon, Virginia; which is a small town in Southwest Virginia. I graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor's Degree in 2012 and a Master's Degree in Special Education in 2013. I am blessed to receive my degrees from one of the top 10 education programs. I got married to my wonderful husband July 30, 2016 and we have enjoyed celebrating our first year of marriage with our two dogs!
I love sports and love incorporating them into my lessons. I believe learning should be active and enjoyable for all students and meet them where they are and encourage them to push themselves. I believe all students can be successful in anything they put their mind to and I want to help them reach their goals. As the year goes on, I will be making contact with the students and parents to obtain ways they want to be successful in the school year so that we are always reaching goals and moving forward.
I will be co-teaching 6th grade Language Arts with Ms. Noboa and Ms. Salyers. I will also be teaching 7th and 8th grade Resource Language Arts. Along with teaching, I will be coaching Heart and Sole, which is a girls running program.
Each student will need to purchase a SpringBoard book as this is our curriculum. The students will also need to purchase a planner as this is a way I can communicate with parents and the students can record their homework and important dates. If you have any questions about materials please feel free to reach out to me and I will be happy to answer those questions.
Other materials needed (7th and 8th grade ONLY) * 2 inch 3-ring binder * binder dividers with 8 tabs * writing utensils (pencils, pens, etc)
Tutoring will be offered in the mornings on Thursday's from 7:25-7:40.
